The goal of these “\u003Ca href=\"https://smartercrowdsourcing.org/\" data-href=\"https://smartercrowdsourcing.org/\" class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Smarter Crowdsourcing\u003C/a>” roundtables was to discuss strategies to enable more effective use of evidence by Members and Committees in hearings and other legislative processes in the US Congress.\u003C/p>\u003Cp name=\"8df1\" id=\"8df1\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\">Fifty-three experts, including representatives from foreign parliaments, and experts in science communication, and specialists in Congressional operations and research, technology, and data science, identified recommendations for how Congress can source and use high-quality research and evidence to inform the lawmaking process.\u003C/p>\u003Cp name=\"9b5f\" id=\"9b5f\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\">Distilled from over 100 proposals, this blog post presents a summary of five recommendations for Congress followed by three recommendations for universities. of experts to participate, lacks equity and diversity, decreases opportunities for hearing from people with different disciplinary perspectives to participate, gives the majority disproportionate For the past three years, and again in 2026, he has been a Learning Guide and facilities for the NSW Leadership Academy (Band 1 and Band 2 senior executives).\u003C/p>\n\u003Cp>He chaired the former NSW Digital Government Advisory Panel and the Expert Advisory Group for the Welfare Payments Infrastructure Transformation program (WPIT) for the former federal Department of Human Services (now Services Australia).\u003C/p>\n\u003Cp>He was a member of the Government 2.0 Task Force established by Federal Minister for Finance, Lindsay Tanner, in 2009. In 2018 he was recognized as one of the 10 Most Influential Academics in Digital Government globally (by the global policy platform Apolitical). Previously at Oxford University, he was the UNESCO Chairholder in Communications Law and Policy and co-founded and was the Head of the Program in Comparative Media Law and Policy at the Center for Socio-Legal Studies. He was the Socio-Legal Fellow at Wolfson College, and is still an emeritus fellow at Oxford.
