As 2022 draws to a close, we take this opportunity to reflect on all that we’ve accomplished this year and how we might build on our work in 2023 and beyond. In 2022, we made headway on the domains of air quality, food systems sustainability, governance, and mobility.\u003C/p>\u003Cul class=\"postList\">\u003Cli name=\"b3c5\" id=\"b3c5\" class=\"graf graf--li graf-after--p\">\u003Ca href=\"https://air-quality.the100questions.org/\" data-href=\"https://air-quality.the100questions.org/\" class=\"markup--anchor markup--li-anchor\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u003Cstrong class=\"markup--strong markup--li-strong\">\u003Cem class=\"markup--em markup--li-em\">Air Quality Domain\u003C/em>\u003C/strong>\u003C/a>\u003Cstrong class=\"markup--strong markup--li-strong\">\u003Cem class=\"markup--em markup--li-em\">: \u003C/em>\u003C/strong>Published in 2022, \u003Ca href=\"https://www.wri.org/research/knowing-doing-operationalizing-100-questions-air-quality-initiative\" data-href=\"https://www.wri.org/research/knowing-doing-operationalizing-100-questions-air-quality-initiative\" class=\"markup--anchor markup--li-anchor\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">“From Knowing to Doing: Operationalizing the 100 Questions for Air Quality Initiative\u003C/a>” summarizes the September 2021 capstone event that wrapped up \u003Ca href=\"https://air-quality.the100questions.org/\" data-href=\"https://air-quality.the100questions.org/\" class=\"markup--anchor markup--li-anchor\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the 100 Questions for Air Quality domain\u003C/a>, led by The GovLab and the World Resources Institute (WRI). Co-hosted by the Clean Air Fund, the Climate and Clean Air Coalition, and the Clean Air Catalyst, this conference featured “a group of 100 atmospheric scientists, policy experts, academics, and data providers from around the world to identify the most important questions for setting a new, high-impact agenda for further investments in data and data science” to maintain and create clean air quality.\u003C/li>\u003Cli name=\"aad6\" id=\"aad6\" class=\"graf graf--li graf-after--li\">\u003Ca href=\"https://governance.the100questions.org/\" data-href=\"https://governance.the100questions.org/\" class=\"markup--anchor markup--li-anchor\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u003Cstrong class=\"markup--strong markup--li-strong\">\u003Cem class=\"markup--em markup--li-em\">Governance Domain\u003C/em>\u003C/strong>\u003C/a>\u003Cstrong class=\"markup--strong markup--li-strong\">\u003Cem class=\"markup--em markup--li-em\">: \u003C/em>\u003C/strong>The GovLab, alongside the Asia Foundation, the Centre for Strategic and International Studies in Indonesia, and the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development launched the \u003Ca href=\"https://governance.the100questions.org/\" data-href=\"https://governance.the100questions.org/\" class=\"markup--anchor markup--li-anchor\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Governance domain of the 100 Questions Initiative\u003C/a> at the end of 2021/early 2022. Zahuranec, and Andrew Young captures the findings from the \u003Ca href=\"https://datachallenge.africa/\" data-href=\"https://datachallenge.africa/\" class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">#Data4COVID19 Africa Challenge\u003C/a>, a “six-month effort by Expertise France, The GovLab, and the Agence française de développement (AFD) to improve data systems across Africa for COVID-19 response provides insights on ways to achieve this goal.”\u003C/p>\u003Cp name=\"e6ae\" id=\"e6ae\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\">The challenge selected seven awardees to receive AFD funding for projects that use data to understand the impact of COVID-19 within the African context. This program is an eight-week accelerated learning program to support public and private sector leaders to open data and reduce data access inequities in ways that advance their institution’s goals. This cohort was dedicated specifically to data innovators in the Eastern Hemisphere, who do not often receive as much support as their Western counterparts. For the past three years, and again in 2026, he has been a Learning Guide and facilities for the NSW Leadership Academy (Band 1 and Band 2 senior executives).\u003C/p>\n\u003Cp>He chaired the former NSW Digital Government Advisory Panel and the Expert Advisory Group for the Welfare Payments Infrastructure Transformation program (WPIT) for the former federal Department of Human Services (now Services Australia).\u003C/p>\n\u003Cp>He was a member of the Government 2.0 Task Force established by Federal Minister for Finance, Lindsay Tanner, in 2009. In 2018 he was recognized as one of the 10 Most Influential Academics in Digital Government globally (by the global policy platform Apolitical). Previously at Oxford University, he was the UNESCO Chairholder in Communications Law and Policy and co-founded and was the Head of the Program in Comparative Media Law and Policy at the Center for Socio-Legal Studies. He was the Socio-Legal Fellow at Wolfson College, and is still an emeritus fellow at Oxford.
